Biggest Weakness: Preferring to work independently...

The key for you to answer the question, "What is your biggest weakness?" is to play up the advantages of being an introvert.

Being an introvert is a huge advantage in many situations. Play this up when discussing your skills on your resume and in your interviews. For example, as an introverted job seeker, you likely work well independently, have good self-awareness, listen well, have an ability to focus, and know when to get down to business.

These are highly desired skills for nearly any job, and the fact that they come naturally to you will set you ahead of the competition. Being able to work independently is a soft skill that many employers look for in potential new hires. It shows that you’re a good self-manager and most likely able to meet your deadlines without the interference of other team players.

Example:

"I have considered my preference for working independently, to be my greatest weakness. I tend to prefer working alone or with a very small group of people whom I know I can trust.

However, I have come to realize that being a bit of an introvert has its advantages. I am motivated to work based more on thought and reason than on emotion.

Typically, I don't require close management - give me a project, and I'll dig into it. I will get the job done, on-time, and without a lot of fuss.

To help counter the appearance of being aloof, I make a conscious effort to reach out to my co-workers, to be friendly and cooperative, and to have a good relationship with everyone I work with."

If applicable - cite the job description as part of your answer. “In the job description, it read that the right job candidate would be able to work independently...."

However, if the job description states: team oriented, works well within a team, or other such phrases, deeply consider if this particular opportunity is the best fit for you.

Always keep in mind, that someone who truly enjoys all aspects of the job as it's laid out in the description, will most certainly excel over someone who is trying to fit their "square" like personality into a "circle" like job opportunity.
