Interview Story - Overcame Challenge
This was a project where I felt really overwhelmed at first. I was working as a graphic designer at EFX. There were some edits made to the logo that included a new tagline. There were lots of collateral out there that included our logo as well as web pages that also had the old logo. All of these would need to be updated to include this new, edited version.
The brand manager asked me to find all of the collateral pieces before I updated them to the new, edited logo version. I had no idea how long this would take or even the actual scale of the project, but I was determined to get it done quickly and completely.
I met with three marketing coordinators to find out where these marketing documents lived in the online EFX store. To keep it simple and not so overwhelming, I broke it down into small sections. Each day at 3:00, I took a break from my ongoing assignments and spent an hour going through a section or two of the online store. I kept track of what needed to be updated and which ones were okay, in an Excel spreadsheet.
After a couple of months, I successfully audited the entire online store, identifying over 500 marketing pieces, and sent the marketing director my spreadsheet. She was impressed that I completed the audit before my annual review and we actually deleted quite a few of them, which saved time when I went back and actually updated everything.
The same spreadsheet and breakdown of site sections ensured that I updated every piece of collateral on the site.
